Invisible delves into the nuanced narratives of those existing on society’s periphery, particularly individuals suffering from chronic illness and trauma. These conditions, while profoundly impactful, often remain unseen and unacknowledged by the broader public. My intent is to bring visibility to these experiences, capturing the essence of those navigating life within the “kingdom of the sick” (Sontag).
Through intimate interviews and environmental portrait sessions, I collaborate with my subjects, allowing them to share their stories in a safe space. This process not only documents their experiences but also empowers them, transforming their narratives into powerful visual statements. By weaving together these personal stories, I aim to create a fabric of community and connection, highlighting the shared humanity of those living on the edge of medical knowledge and societal recognition. The narrative portraits reveal the resilience and strength of individuals who, despite being systematically overlooked, continue to navigate their lives with dignity and courage. Photography, as a democratic medium, allows me to tell these stories with authenticity and empathy, challenging societal norms and encouraging a deeper understanding of what it means to exist on the periphery.

For any one interested, I’m on a creative journey as a visual artist, and I’m super excited to be working on a project that’s really close to my heart. I’ve been connecting with people who’ve experienced what many call "invisible" illnesses or traumas—conditions and experiences that aren’t immediately visible to others but are very much real and impactful. These experiences can be both physical or psychological.
Talking about health and personal experiences can be really tough, and I completely get that. It's all about sharing in a way that feels right to you. I’m here to be a supportive partner in this, capturing your story through photographs. Imagine just you and me, working together to create portraits that truly reflect your story and embolden the warrior spirit. We’ll choose styles and locations that mean something to you, making sure the whole process feels meaningful and genuine.
We'd kick things off with a little brainstorming and a chat to get to know each other and talk about how we can move forward together into our first photo session. This is just the starting point, and we might decide to meet for more sessions after that. It’s all about what feels right for you. And if you’d like to be a part of the community that this project is bound to create, you are more than welcome.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love you to fill out this short questionnaire. Although not all fields are required, I’d like to send you a welcome box and to share some of the things that are a part of my storytelling. This is a chance for us to start a conversation about how we can shine a light on your unique story together.
